Description:

For my submission to the Winter Wonderland contest I decided to make a snow globe inspired soap.
It depicts a fairytale castle (also made from soap – carved free-hand) behind a glittering snow storm with a mystical winter’s night background – blue-black mica swirled with iridescent pink.

It’s scented with Champagne fragrance oil, a light and fresh fragrance which provokes an image sparkling bubbles – very reminiscent of the sparkling snow within a snow globe.

Weight: 55g

This soap is a 100% one-off made specially for this competition!

Winter Wonderland soap by Celine Blacow

Description:

My Winter Wonderland is a traditionally made cold process soap made with Coconut, Palm, Olive and Sweet Almond Oils. I have added pure silk for extra luxury and a wonderful smoothness, and it is fragranced with a fragrance oil that I specially purchased for this competition. This is described as having top notes of eucalyptus, spearmint, wild rose and dew fresh ferns leading to snow pines, blue jasmine magnolia and white lilies finishing with a base of white musk, balsam and sandalwood.

I wanted something reminiscent of the cold, fresh air the hits your lungs when you walk out on a snowy Winter’s day and I think this one achieves that nicely – it smells so much of clean, fresh air, and it is almost icy.

I’ve coloured it using a touch of titanium dioxide to whiten it and pale blue to illustrate the snowy tops of mountains in Winter and the way ice can look both white and blue at the same time. It’s generously dusted with sparkling silver mica to represent the crisp ice sparkling in the sunlight. The blue/white pattern is reminiscent of a glacier in wintertime.

The concept of Winter Wonderland is really interesting – I did some research on Facebook, as part of my planning for this soap, and the replies I got were that the phrase Winter Wonderland meant different things to different people but it, generally, divided up into two areas – a variation between red/gold/spice and blue/white/ice.

Personally, Winter Wonderland says snow topped moutains, that crisp crunchy sound of the new snow underfoot and the wonderful scent of fresh air, pines and, ultimately, a clean cool peacefulness. I really hope you believe this soap portrays that image.

The bars are approx 100g each.

Description:

This Winter Wonderland bar of soap is scented with Peppermint EO and weighs 3.5 oz.
I used to live in Alaska so I wanted to capture a winter night when the aurora borealis lights up the sky. I worked in layers to create this. First, I created the trees and the aurora in the mold. Then I added goats milk M & P soap to create the snow-covered hills. Finally, I added the midnight blue sky with a layer of black behind it. When it was finished, I dusted the snow and aurora with violet sparkle mica.
